Winter Roses

While it is still in the 90 degrees outside in the Southern USA where I have my studio, I took a virtual trip to review photographs taken at the Savannah Botanical Gardens last winter. I am participating in an exhibition at the Blue Heron Nature Preserve gallery this fall for the next two months with artists Vicki Bethel and Pamela Ellerbrock.

The garden is an intimate, lovely site with beautiful roses, among other blooming and interesting plants. Even in the winter, my favorite time to visit, the roses having lost their luster are still beautiful to me with their subdued color and texture now a prominent feature. For several years, I’ve spent time photographing the roses as they fade. Pictured are a few of those photographs.
