While transitioning from sustained work on a series, I often take a break to work on smaller paintings on paper. Still using oil with cold wax medium added, I experiment and investigate color and form even using tools that I don’t normally use. They are free form sessions that help me resume larger work and they are fun. No expectations, no rules, just play with materials and colors especially those that I rarely use. It’s a good creative stretch. I learned along time ago, creativity needs to be fed. Oh yes, all the time.
Beautiful work, Helen! I agree, we have to schedule play time. Congratulations on joining Tew Gallery !
Hope to see you soon,
Holly
