Fall Open House

The photo above is the main entrance to the Center where I have my studio. Look for the red door of this 1930’s Deco building. The building is set back from Cobb Parkway but easy to find if you Google, Helen DeRamus Studio.

I love this time of the year when the Artisan Resource Center open it’s doors, the weekend before Thanksgiving. There are 28 studios with artists/artisans working in sculpture, special effects production, furniture making, photography, painting, ceramics, wood-turning, jewelry, graphics, advertising, film production and movies, and theater. Helen DeRamus Studio is one of those. Visit me in Suite L-1. You’ll find maps at the entrance. I’m waaay down the hall with double doors and a blnking “Open” sign.

This year, I will host a special exhibit of four unique artists: three painters and one photographer. Below is a montage photo, excerpts from their works. All work will be for sale. Three of the artists I mentor in my studio. The photographer among the artists is Lyn DeRamus, also a well known musician and my husband too!. He will be introducing his abstract photographs for the first time. All the artists have a special relationship with color. Angie Dachs follows her interest in Abstract Expressionism, adding her special brushwork and color. While Barbara Wilensky, using cold wax medium and oil paint, continues her interest in a lyrical approach to painting. Irene Bernhardt’s paintings are filled with her love of the landscape often using her photographs taken when traveling. Each artist’s work is very personal.

And of course you’ll have a chance to see: the studio setup, the paintings I’m working on along with those of my studio mate, Pamela Ellerbrock.

Friday night is definitely the evening to start your tour of the studios. Each artist always has a bounty of food and drink. You will not leave hungry and you will carry with you all the images of this diverse group. There are probably some surprises along the way. I hope you’ll come our way for the weekend Art Party.
